UCMA FIRST AGM PRESS RELEASE 全國大專音樂聯盟年度大會

(Semenyih, 14) The Malaysia University College Music Association, or known as UCMA has conducted the first Annual General Meeting since the establishment. The AGM was organised and attended by 11 of the Highest Board of Committee and the state representatives, few important resolutions has been tabled and agreed by the AGM, which will be execute in 2018.

PRIORITISE ON EDUCATION

UCMA will prioritise “Education” as the core direction this year in 2018, where the initiatives and projects will be highly focus on educating the student composers in the aspect of better music production quality, and to encourage the attitude of professionalism during the music production.

UCMA believes that education is important to boost up the student’s confidence, so that they will be able to produce good quality work with a professional mentality. The organization will work with the industry key players in order to achieve this objectives.

REVIEW ON PAST COLLABORATION

In these 2 days AGM, UCMA has reviewed all collaboration and projects what has worked together with all the supportive partner, there are many experience that we have learned, we fall and stand up straight again, and again we would like to express our greatest gratitude to all of them.

In 2018, collaboration will be one important thing that UCMA will look into seriously. Without collaboration, it will be tough to achieve our mission. We invite all potential collaborative partner, music club and society, to continue to work with us in order to provide more platforms for the students producer to showcase their talent.

3 MAJOR INITIATIVES AND EVENTS

Project Rhythm of Private

UCMA will focus on three major events and initiative in 2018. First will be Project Rhythm of Private, where this initiative is to gather all the UC Music Club from the private education institution, to perform at one stage. The Project Leader, Mr Steven Wong, also UCMA’ Treasurer will chief this mission.

UCMA have spoken to several Universities Music Club and we hope that the member of the committee of the respective music club willing to support this event.

Then, one of the most important event in UCMA - Music Congress, congress for UC Music Club will be kickstart in mid of 2018, this is the meeting where all the representatives will sit down and discuss about the challenges that faced by every clubs. This music congress also vow to be the one who able to gather voices and send memo to the respective government agency or organisation that we believed that they able to assist.

Organizing Committee of Music Congress

Music Congress organizing committee will lead this mission, and UCMA Vice Chairman (Internal Affairs) Ms Swee will be leading the team, alongside with Mr Yee Chee Xiong, our Johor Representatives. UCMA Chairperson and Deputy Chairman, Mr Kenn Yeap and Mr Low Zhi Huang will be the 1st Presiding Officer of UCMA Music Congress.

Below is the organising committee chart.

  1. Ms. Swee Xue Li, UCMA Vice Chairperson (Internal Affairs) will be leading this organising committee Johor Representatives, Mr. Yee Chee Xiong will be assisting Ms Swee in this project.

  2. Ms. Eelin Lim, UCMA Secretary General (External Affairs) is appointed as the Congress Secretary, handling all the official lettering and documentation of the Music Congress.

  3. Mr. Rich Li, UCMA Vice Chairperson (External Affairs) is appointed as the Congress treasurer, chief of all the financial matter of Music Congress. He as well is appointed as Head of Logistic, to handle all the logistic, venue matter of music congress.

  4. Ms. Michelle Loh, Selangor Represntatives, appointed as Head of Congress Agenda, chief of all the standard of meeting procedure, meeting agenda of congress.

  5. Mr. Steven Wong, UCMA Treasurer, appointed as Head of Marketing and Sponsorship, chief all the promotion and sponsorship for Music Congress.

  6. Ms. Lee Zhi Ling, UCMA Secretary General (Internal Affairs) is appointed as the Head of Training, chief of all the information that need to be highlight in the Music Congress.

However the Organizing Chairperson is granted the right by UCMA Chairman, to appoint and assign more roles into the congress organising committee.

2nd Music Interaction Camp

Last but not least, the interaction camp 2.0. UCMA has spoken to few universities which shows their passion and interests towards organising the 2nd Interaction camp. The interaction camp is intended to gather passionate music maker to share their skills with the other students around in Malaysia. Pahang State Representatives, Ms Tan Hui Teng will

be leading the proposing stage.

REBRANDING ON #ONEMONTHONELIVE

The OneMonthOneLive will be rebrand. Our initiatives of getting student music live on Facebook started in April, in conjunction with UCMA establishment date, however looking into the challenges and other sort of difficulties to make it happen continuously, UCMA has appointed Mr Steven Wong to look after the rebranding of this project. And we estimate the new production will be launch in April 2018, continue to #KeepLocalMusicAlive

After a year of the mission, and the job description of each of the position, the Chairman, including Deputy, Vices have decided in switching some of the position, the intention is clearly to put the right and professional person onto the right position. As below

  1. Mr. Steven Wong, is promoted to Treasurer from Deputy Treasurer, where he will be the chief of financial and sponsorship matter of UCMA.

  2. Ms. Michelle Loh, is promoted to support the treasury as the Deputy Treasurer, where she will be assisting Mr Wong in financial and sponsorship matter of UCMA

  3. Mr. Bryan Chan, will be fully focus on Song Composition and Music Bank (SCMBC) as Secretary General (Music Affairs), where this move has delegate a clear job description to three secretaries general, which Ms Lee Zhi Ling will be handling Internal Affairs, while Ms Eelin Lim will be taking charge of External Affairs.

  4. Mr. Oo Cheng Chun, will be fully focus on Song Composition and Music Bank (SCMBC) as one of the council member of the UCMA subsidiaries.

  5. Mr Kenn Yeap, the Chairman will also oversee Song Composition and Music Bank (SCMBC) alongside with Mr Neo Jun Chen, the Vice Chairman (Music Affairs) as the subsidiary is one of the crucial initiatives of UCMA in 2018.

UCMA adjourned the AGM on the date 14 February 2018, 12:55PM and thou the AGM will be call until the next decided date.
